Certified Orthotist
Mike Malagari is the founder of Orthotics Solutions and a Certified Orthotist. Mike is certified through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics and is a Fellow of the American Association for Orthotics and Prosthetics. Mike is currently serving his third term as the President and Chairman of the Virginia Orthotic & Prosthetic Association, VOPA.
Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After teaching for a few years he decided to continue his education in the field of orthotics and prosthetics by attending and graduating from the Orthotics and Prosthetics program at Northwestern University in Chicago. He has been involved in the orthotics and prosthetics field for over 30 years, with the last 25 years spent providing orthotic care and concentrates in lower extremity and scoliosis to a wide variety of patients.
Mike and his wife, Kelly, are the proud parents of two daughters, Megan Long and Danielle Malagari. They also have two grandchildren, Brayden and Landon Long. Besides spending time with his family, Mike has interests in music, art, snow skiing and golf. For a number of years he has been involved in raising money for the Two Top Adaptive Ski Program by skiing in a marathon that includes skiing 100,000 vertical feet in one day.
In addition to raising money for the ski program, he travels twice a year to Orange Walk Town in Belize with a team from the World Pediatric Project. While in Belize he sees children who otherwise have no means of receiving any orthotic care. His patient load in Belize consists of new patients requiring orthotic care and current patients for orthotic follow-up after orthopedic surgery. Mike believes that this medical mission work has rejuvenated a love for his chosen profession and has invigorated him when he comes home to the states to provide the best possible orthotic care that he can provide.
